Harvey "My Hero" West had been a customer of ours and has flown our flag for many years (shown above with his black 1989 Mustang). 

Last week Harvey ran his last race, but Harvey came across the finish line a winner.  The sign of a true winner is someone who enjoyed their life, was able to do what they wanted to do, made good friends and had a positive impact on the people around him.  That man was Harvey West. 

Harvey got his nickname "My Hero" by a young racer who longed to be like Harvey after Harvey "gave him some schooling" on a misty racetrack. 

Harvey had raced in the SCCA for over 30 years, winning his fair share of regional championships.  He also competed in 15 National Runoffs in the American Sedan class.  Remarkably completing every Runoffs race he entered.  Thats a dream come true for any racer.

as Harvey was not to be denied his final opportunity on the track.  With his wife of nearly fifty years by his side, Sharon West helped him compete in his final SCCA Runoffs despite ongoing Chemo-Therapy.

Harvey lost his battle with Cancer last week but leaves behind a legacy that will live amongst SCCA competitors and friends.   Harvey you lived the dream.  Congratulations...now you're "My Hero".
